Cristian Pistol, the general director of CNAIR, announced the completion of the second tunnel gallery for the Boița 1 tunnel on the Sibiu – Pișeti highway. However, construction is hindered by a lack of necessary authorizations. The Turkish contractors have finished both galleries, with the first completed in July 2026. Interior work is ongoing, with the project at 45.11% completion. Other tunnels on the site are also under construction, with varying progress levels. The overall site is staffed with 708 workers and 162 machines, achieving about 16% completion. Due to missing environmental agreements and construction permits, only 45% of the planned work can proceed. The project, valued at 4.25 billion lei, is funded through the Transport Program.
