The incident was caused by a failure to communicate changes in train schedules, leading to a tragic head-on collision. The trial of the responsible parties took place in the Teiuș train station, where the dispatcher Teodor Petrișor was sentenced to death, later commuted, and the assistant Alexandru Cristea received a lengthy prison term. The accident remains a significant event in Alba's history, with memorials established to honor the victims.
