The lesser-known victory of Vladislav I over the Kingdom of Hungary occurred in 1368, echoing the earlier triumph at Posada. Vladislav, the grandson of Basarab I, faced King Louis I, who sought to assert control over Wallachia. Despite initial setbacks, Vladislav's forces successfully defended against a two-pronged Hungarian attack. The battle, reminiscent of Posada, resulted in a significant defeat for the Hungarians, including the death of their commander, Nicolae Lackfi. This victory, however, faded from historical memory, overshadowed by earlier events. Vladislav I was notable for minting his own currency and granting trade privileges, but his reign ended amid renewed conflicts with Hungary, leading to his eventual downfall. His contributions to the formation of Wallachia are recognized by historians, marking him as a key figure in the region's history.
