The 25% reduction in diesel excise tax will be extended until September 30, 2026, in response to rising international prices. The Ministry of Finance confirmed this temporary measure following a biweekly assessment mandated by Law no. 162/2026. The reduction translates to 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters, resulting in an effective excise of 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters during this period. This decision aims to mitigate the impact of fuel price increases on the population and economy, particularly in transport and logistics sectors. The Ministry will continue to monitor price trends biweekly as per legal requirements.
