Romanian households are facing a significant increase in electricity bills, projected to rise by up to 22% this autumn. The average price for new electricity offers is expected to reach around 1.67 lei/kWh, influenced by ongoing market conditions and rising gas prices. The analysis by the Association of Intelligent Energy (AEI) indicates that the increase is primarily due to higher costs in long-term purchases and spot market prices. Various scenarios predict different levels of price hikes, with the central scenario estimating an additional 74 lei per month for a typical household consuming 200 kWh. Factors contributing to the price rise include network tariffs and additional costs related to consumption profiles and market adjustments.
