Verdict la Tribunalul București: Călin Georgescu află astăzi dacă scapă de arestul preventiv

The Bucharest Tribunal is set to decide whether Călin Georgescu can be released from preventive detention. The former presidential candidate requested a less severe measure, such as house arrest or judicial control. Previously, a judge had placed him under judicial control, but this was overturned by the Court of Appeal, which ordered his preventive arrest for 30 days due to reasonable suspicion of serious crimes. One judge disagreed, arguing that plans to buy property abroad do not imply intent to flee. The decision can be appealed, and investigations into electronic devices seized from his home continue. Georgescu has been in preventive detention since September 29, accused of defrauding a businessman of 1.1 million euros.
