Vată bazaltică sau polistiren? Cu ce îți izolezi mai eficient casa și cât costă • Newsweek România

Basalt wool and polystyrene are both effective for thermal insulation, but they differ in price, fire behavior, and sound insulation. The thermal conductivity coefficient (λ) is crucial; lower values indicate better insulation. A 10 cm thick expanded graphite polystyrene has a thermal conductivity of 0.032 W/mK, while premium basalt wool has 0.035 W/mK, making their thermal performance comparable. However, basalt wool excels in fire resistance, rated Euroclass A1, compared to polystyrene's Euroclass E. Pricing varies significantly, with polystyrene being cheaper. For cost-effective heat loss reduction, polystyrene is preferable, while basalt wool is better for fire safety and sound insulation, despite higher initial costs.
