He stated in a letter to a Warsaw court that he resides in Tiraspol. Romanowski is sought for various offenses, leading to a European arrest warrant. He served as Deputy Minister from 2019 to 2023 and allegedly misappropriated funds intended for crime victims. He denies all accusations. Initially, he and another wanted official fled to Hungary, where they were granted asylum, but later moved due to changes in the Hungarian government.
