The National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) announced that seven route options for the Bucharest-Giurgiu highway are under analysis. Based on CNIR's criteria, two of the best options will advance to the next stage. This highway will be the first high-speed road at Romania's border with Bulgaria. Proposed routes will connect to the Giurgiu-Russe 2 bridge and the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo highway under construction. The project aims to enhance transport standards between Bucharest and Giurgiu, improve traffic safety, and reduce pollution. The top two scoring routes will be selected for further development, with a contract value of 33 million lei and an estimated duration of 18 months.
