Val uriaș din Oceanul Pacific, cea mai extremă undă monstru înregistrată vreodată. Apare o dată la 1300 de ani • Newsweek România
A massive wave recorded off the coast of British Columbia in November 2020 is considered the most extreme rogue wave ever documented, reaching a height of 17.6 meters. This phenomenon, which occurs approximately once every 1,300 years, was confirmed to be significantly larger than surrounding waves. Scientists define a rogue wave as one that exceeds twice the height of nearby waves, and this particular wave was nearly three times larger. Research continues to understand the formation of such waves, which pose risks to maritime activities. Climate change may lead to even taller waves in the future, raising concerns about their potential impact.
