In September 2026, Romania saw a rise in insolvency cases, with 869 new filings, up from over 800 in the same month of 2025. Bucharest accounted for 22% of these cases, totaling 195. The high number reflects the concentration of businesses and economic activity in the capital. In contrast, Ilfov County experienced a 28% decrease in insolvencies, while Timiș saw a 15% drop. Cluj reported a 20% increase, indicating financial challenges for local firms. Notably, Constanța's filings surged by 112%. The construction sector also faced rising insolvencies, attributed to long payment terms and rising costs, particularly in transport and restaurant industries.
