Cornelia Elena Micicoi, former prefect of Timiș County, was detained for 24 hours by European prosecutors in a case involving EU funds. Four others were also detained. This follows previous searches related to allegations of organized crime and fraud. Micicoi resigned from her position shortly after the searches, stating she wanted to protect the institution from the investigation's impact. She maintains her innocence and claims she has nothing to hide.
