USR has announced potential sanctions against Alexandru Munteanu, vice president of the Dâmbovița branch, following his involvement in a DIICOT investigation regarding international sanctions violations. If the allegations are confirmed, he could face expulsion from the party. Munteanu, who holds dual Romanian and Moldovan citizenship, is implicated in a case involving the attempted export of a €1.7 million industrial machine to a Belarusian company under EU sanctions. The investigation includes multiple individuals and has led to several home searches. DIICOT is examining activities related to the transfer of dual-use equipment that could be used for military purposes.
