Ursula von der Leyen expressed gratitude to Romanian firefighters for their role in combating wildfires in France, highlighting European solidarity. Romania extended its participation in the mission by two weeks at France's request. The third Romanian contingent, consisting of 40 firefighters, is set to join efforts in the Var department, working alongside teams from other EU member states. This summer, over 770 firefighters from 14 European countries are positioned in high-risk areas across several nations, supported by the rescEU fleet.
