UPDATE. Șura Mică: incendiul a distrus două hale și 4.500 de tone de deșeuri. Cauza probabilă, o reacție chimică la un acumulator
The fire at the sorting station in Șura Mică was extinguished after 90 hours, destroying two metal halls and approximately 4,500 tons of sorted and unsorted waste. The probable cause was a chemical reaction from a damaged battery. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to nearby structures. Toxic smoke prompted alerts for residents in the area, but no injuries were reported. The station's operator, Soma Salubrizare, confirmed significant damage but managed to save some equipment. Air quality measurements showed elevated levels of pollutants, but authorities stated that the situation was not immediately dangerous. The investigation into the cause and extent of the damage is ongoing.
