The Bucharest Court of Appeal has approved DIICOT's request to detain former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu for 30 days due to fraud allegations involving 1.1 million euros. Businessman Ionel Rusen is also subject to the same decision. The court's ruling is final, following a disagreement among judges regarding preventive measures. Georgescu had previously been placed under judicial control but was re-arrested after the appeal. The case stems from a complaint by businessman Răzvan Leu, who claims he was defrauded in a scheme involving precious metal transactions. Investigators allege that Georgescu and Rusen misled Leu into paying a guarantee for a non-existent loan.
