Alexandru Costescu, a wealthy Romanian, owned significant land in Giulești and Bucureștii Noi and founded a church there. His wife, Maria, inherited his fortune but met a tragic end at nearly 80 when a thief killed her during a robbery. Both are buried in Bellu Cemetery, where their story remains largely forgotten today.
