Uniunea vrea să oprească exporturile de fier vechi către India și Egipt

The European Union is proposing to restrict metal waste exports to India and Egypt due to insufficient ecological management guarantees. This decision follows an evaluation indicating that these countries lack adequate controls to ensure environmentally sound treatment of waste. The EU exported nearly 19 million tons of scrap metal in 2025, with India and Egypt being significant buyers. New regulations will ban exports of non-hazardous waste to non-OECD countries starting May 2027, unless special exemptions are granted. The EU will consult with Indian and Egyptian authorities regarding potential exceptions before finalizing the list of authorized countries in November.
