Uniunea Naţională a Barourilor, în apărarea lui Tudorel Toader: „Avocaţii să îşi poată exercita profesia fără intimidare sau ingerinţe”

The National Union of Bar Associations in Romania has called for the reconsideration of a ban on lawyers defending Alexandru Toader, accused of sexual assault. This decision by the Faculty of Law in Iași prevents his father, Tudorel Toader, and lawyer Andreea Urda from teaching. UNBR emphasizes the importance of the right to defense and warns against public pressure undermining legal principles. They cite UN and European conventions protecting lawyers from professional repercussions due to their clients. The Bar Association of Iași also criticized the faculty's decision, stating it could discourage lawyers from taking on difficult cases. Alexandru Toader is currently under preventive arrest for multiple charges, including rape.
