Uniunea Europeană interzice distrugerea hainelor, a accesoriilor şi a încălţămintei nevândute • Newsweek România

The European Union has implemented new regulations prohibiting the destruction of unsold clothing, footwear, and accessories, effective from Sunday. This initiative aims to enhance environmental protection by reducing waste generated by the fashion industry. Companies can only destroy unsold items under specific circumstances, such as safety concerns or product damage. Starting February 2027, businesses must report the volumes of unsold goods they dispose of in a standardized format. The EU encourages better stock management and alternative solutions like resale and donations. These rules will also extend to SMEs by July 2030, addressing the significant waste issue in the textile sector.
