Uniunea Europeană accelerează programul IRIS²

The European Commission and SpaceRISE consortium have signed an agreement to implement the IRIS² program, expanding the European satellite constellation to 348 satellites. The project aims to enhance security and communication capabilities, with initial launches planned for 2029. The new configuration will include satellites in low and medium Earth orbits, providing secure communication services for EU member states and emergency services. The initiative is part of a public-private partnership and is expected to be funded by the EU budget and contributions from member states. The goal is to strengthen Europe's autonomy in satellite communications.
