”Unire in persona Episcopi” între Arhieparhia de Alba Iulia și Eparhia de Cluj. Măsură atipică în sânul Bisericii Greco-Catolice

The Archdiocese of Alba Iulia and the Diocese of Cluj-Gherla will be united under the leadership of Claudiu, the Major Archbishop of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church, starting October 15, 2026. This decision, termed 'unire in persona Episcopi', allows both entities to maintain their legal identities and assets while sharing a leader. The measure aims to address modern administrative challenges and enhance collaboration within the church. Historically, this practice was rare but is becoming more common. An example from Romania's past includes the 1927 concordat that united the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea Mare with the Diocese of Satu Mare under a single bishop.
