UniCredit a obţinut aprobarea BCE pentru a prelua controlul la banca germană Commerzbank - Economica.net
Italian banking group UniCredit has received ECB approval to increase its stake in German bank Commerzbank to 48% following a hostile takeover bid. This €45 billion offer marks a significant cross-border banking transaction in Europe since the global financial crisis. UniCredit can now exceed the 30% threshold and aims to control approximately 50% of voting rights by year-end, pending regulatory procedures. Despite opposition from Commerzbank and the German government, UniCredit has secured enough shares to influence shareholder decisions. CEO Andrea Orcel plans to push for a new supervisory board and management at Commerzbank soon after acquiring additional shares.
