The funding was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, with participation from several other investors. Arena, initially named LMArena, focuses on AI evaluation and has seen significant growth since its Series A funding in January 2026. The company also announced the launch of an 'Alignment Index' to measure AI's deviation from human values. Stoica, a Romanian engineer, has a notable background in technology and has co-founded multiple successful companies, including Databricks.
