The statue was inaugurated in Balatonszemes, a location known for hosting a Queen fan camp for 32 years. The project was a collaboration between the local council and the Queen Fan Club. Peter Freestone, Mercury's former personal assistant, attended the event. The statue's resemblance to poet Attila József has sparked discussions among fans. This year marks the 33rd edition of the Queen Camp, commemorating Mercury's 80th birthday and a historic concert in Budapest.
