Hungary has decided not to join the new regional cooperation format called the "C8 Carpathian Integration Initiative" proposed by Ukraine. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry stated that it is not a member of this initiative, although it is monitoring its implementation. The initiative aims to strengthen economic ties among eight Carpathian countries, including Ukraine, Romania, and Poland. Despite being part of the EU and NATO, Hungary has maintained close ties with Russia and has recently shifted towards a pro-European stance under new leadership. However, Hungary has blocked discussions on Ukraine's EU accession, citing non-implementation of agreements by Ukraine.
