A Cathay Pacific flight was intercepted by NATO fighter jets after mistakenly selecting the wrong frequency while flying over Romania. The incident occurred in early July when the crew misinterpreted air traffic control instructions. The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Authority reported that the crew lost contact due to the frequency error but believed communication systems were functioning normally. Following the incident, Cathay Pacific implemented measures to improve operational procedures and communication vigilance among flight crews. The Hungarian Defense Minister confirmed the mobilization of fighter jets as part of NATO's rapid response mechanism.
