Unde se află Centrala de la Cernavodă, pe Dunăre? De ce e important brațul Bala? Câte brațe are fluviul? • Newsweek România
The Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant is located on the right bank of the Old Danube, relying on its water for cooling. Due to prolonged drought, the river's low flow threatens Reactor 2's operation, following Reactor 1's shutdown. Authorities are attempting to increase water flow from the Bala arm to the Old Danube to ensure adequate supply. The Danube has multiple arms, with the three main ones leading to the Black Sea being Chilia, Sulina, and Sfântu Gheorghe. Other significant arms include Gogoșu, Borcea, Cremenea, Ostrov, Bala, Măcin, Vâlciu, and Calia, which contribute to the river's complex hydrology before reaching the delta.
