A report by Salvați Copiii reveals that many children in Romania are born without prenatal care, highlighting significant inequalities. The organization emphasizes the need for improved access to medical services, especially for vulnerable families. In 2025, one in three children was born without any prenatal check-up, with even higher rates among minors. The report also notes that 31.7% of children under six faced poverty risks, particularly in rural areas. To address these issues, a new program called 'Cutia bebelușului' will support 10,000 mothers and newborns in 24 counties, providing essential items and guidance to improve infant care and reduce mortality rates.
