Un vot ONU ar putea schimba harta lumii. Care este miza
The UN is set to vote on a resolution initiated by Togo to adopt a new world map that accurately reflects Africa's size. The current Mercator projection misrepresents Africa as being similar in size to Greenland, despite it being 14 times larger. The resolution aims to phase out the Mercator map, which distorts the size of regions near the equator and exaggerates northern territories. Supporters argue that a new map would change perceptions of Africa and help decolonize educational programs globally. The campaign "Correct the Map" promotes the use of the "Equal Earth" design, developed in 2018, to provide a more accurate representation of the continent's significance.
