Un tablou cumpărat cu doar 30 de dolari a stabilit un record la licitație. Suma obținută este uluitoare

A painting bought for $30 at a Michigan estate sale turned out to be a valuable work by Gertrude Abercrombie, selling for over $1.35 million at auction. The small oil painting, titled "Alderman Merriam’s Shells," was authenticated after the buyer discovered its signature and researched its history. Originally created in 1951, the artwork features recurring motifs of shells and was previously exhibited multiple times. Abercrombie, known for her surreal and mysterious compositions, had not sold the painting during her lifetime, instead giving it to a doctor in exchange for medical services. After passing through the doctor's family, it was eventually sold at the estate sale, where it was overlooked by most buyers. The auction record for Abercrombie's work was previously set at $1.02 million in 2025.
