AfterQuery, co-founded by Romanian engineer Carlos Georgescu, has reportedly become the fastest unicorn in Y Combinator's history, valued at $3.2 billion after a Series B funding round. The San Francisco-based startup, which focuses on training AI models with professional expertise, was valued at $300 million just five months prior. Georgescu and co-founder Spencer Mateega started the company in early 2025, initially aiming to create AI agents for financial workflows. They pivoted to hiring experts from various fields to improve AI training by capturing professional reasoning processes. Georgescu, 22, has a background in software engineering and previously worked at major tech firms.
