Researchers have developed an AI tool that predicts cancer patients' survival chances based on a single selfie. Created by experts at Mass General Brigham, the system estimates biological age and survival outcomes. It consists of two components: FAHR-FaceAge, which estimates biological age, and FAHR-FaceSurvival, which predicts survival directly from the photo. Trained on over 40 million facial images, the AI found that patients appearing older than their actual age had a significantly higher risk of death. The study highlights the link between perceived biological age and physical health, suggesting lifestyle factors like alcohol and drug use contribute to facial aging.
