Un semnal radio misterios a călătorit 10 miliarde de ani până la Pământ. Astronomii au identificat sursa

Astronomers have detected the most distant fast radio burst (FRB) ever observed, traveling about 10 billion years through the universe, providing insights into the early cosmos. This FRB was identified using the MeerKAT telescope in South Africa and originated when the universe was approximately 3 billion years old. The discovery surpasses the previous record for a localized FRB by more than double. Researchers also pinpointed the galaxy from which the explosion came, using the James Webb Space Telescope. Fast radio bursts are brief yet powerful, releasing vast amounts of energy, and while many have been found, their exact origins remain unclear. They are significant for researchers as they reveal information about intergalactic matter, including gas and magnetic fields.
