A Romanian man was caught selling fake gold bars online, claiming they were Valcambi Suisse, but they were actually made of copper alloys. Police conducted searches in Arad on October 8, 2026, targeting the suspect for fraud. The individual sold two 5-gram bars, misrepresenting them as 24K gold, causing a loss of approximately 5,000 lei to the victim. The bars were packaged to appear authentic, complete with a false brand. During the searches, five suspect bars, a mobile phone, and two SIM cards were seized, and a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest.
