The number of teachers declaring income from tutoring in Romania has increased significantly, with Timiș County reporting the highest earnings. In the last two years, teachers in Timiș, Arad, Caraș-Severin, and Hunedoara declared over 30 million lei from tutoring. The number of teachers reporting their income rose from 676 in 2024 to 941 last year, with total earnings increasing from 11.4 million to 18.7 million lei. A Timiș teacher reported an income of 575,000 lei in 2025. To legally declare tutoring income, teachers must register with the Trade Register and obtain a tax identification number, then submit their income declaration to ANAF.
