A report from the Sibiu Court of Accounts reveals that the Bârghiș Municipality awarded contracts worth over 1.7 million lei without following legal procedures. Two contracts for road asphalt work were awarded directly instead of through a tender process. The State Inspectorate for Construction did not receive the necessary technical documentation for these projects. The audit highlighted significant irregularities in public procurement at the municipality for 2023 and 2024. Mayor Ștefan Șulumberchean stated that all required documents were eventually provided and attributed the direct contract awards to an error, denying any intentional wrongdoing.
