Un pilot britanic a doborât recordul de viteză la sol cu un vehicul alimentat cu hidrogen

Former fighter pilot Andy Green set a new world land speed record of approximately 653.909 km/h using a hydrogen-powered vehicle at Bonneville Salt Flats. This achievement, monitored by the FIA, aims to showcase hydrogen combustion engines as a viable alternative to diesel in heavy machinery. To validate the record, the vehicle had to complete two runs in opposite directions within an hour, achieving speeds of 649.267 km/h and 660.869 km/h. This performance surpassed the previous hydrogen engine record set by BMW H2R in 2004. Green has a history of setting speed records, including a 1997 record of 1,227.985 km/h with a Thrust SSC vehicle. JCB Hydromax invested over 117 million euros in hydrogen engine development and is promoting eco-friendly excavators. The record coincided with JCB's plans to open a new factory in Texas.
