A new border crossing with Ukraine was opened on October 8, allowing only passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. The bridge, named "Maramureș-Transcarpatia," connects Sighetu Marmației to Bila Tserkva. The project aims to enhance regional economic development and NATO's strategic capacity. The border point will be operational in three phases, with pedestrian access expected by December 2027.
