A new bridge over the Tisza River connecting Romania and Ukraine will open on October 8, 2026, along with the Sighetu Marmației II Border Crossing Point. The opening will occur in phases, starting with vehicles up to 3.5 tons. Future phases will allow heavier vehicles and pedestrian traffic. The bridge, costing over 50 million euros, is designed to last at least 100 years and spans 268 meters.
