Starting July 1, 2026, a new mandatory document, the behavioral integrity certificate, must be presented alongside CVs for certain job applicants in Romania. This certificate is required for those working directly with vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly. It can be requested online through the MAI platform, ensuring legal recognition similar to paper versions. The measure aims to prevent individuals with specific criminal records from working in sensitive areas. Employers in education, health, social protection, and sports must verify this certificate for relevant positions, including volunteers.
