A wind farm and battery storage system may be developed on a former mining site in southern Scotland. Renewco plans to install 21 turbines in the Ravengill project near Leadhills and Abington. The project could generate at least £735,000 annually for the local community. The area has a history of lead and gold mining from the 16th to the 20th century, with remnants still visible. Recent years have seen significant wind energy development in the region, with several wind farms at various stages of approval or already operational.
