Un fost președinte de țară a fost condamnat la moarte de o instanță
A former Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, has been sentenced to death by a Syrian court for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The ruling was made in absentia as he fled the country two years ago. This marks the first death penalty against former regime members by transitional authorities in Syria. Alongside Assad, Atif Najib, his cousin and former head of political security, was also sentenced to death for serious human rights violations. The new leadership in Syria is seeking to improve relations with Western nations.
