Former Romanian water polo player Gavril Blajec has passed away at the age of 87. He was part of the Romanian team that finished fifth at the 1960 Rome Olympics. Blajec, a physical education teacher and a graduate of IEFS in 1965, played for several clubs including Știința București, Steaua, and Dinamo, where he won ten national championships. He also represented Romania in various international competitions, including the 1962 and 1970 European Championships. Blajec was recognized as a master emeritus of sport and was part of a notable generation of athletes.
