The Bucharest Court of Appeal overturned the conviction of retired General Florin Mihalache, who was previously sentenced to 3 years and 8 months for bribery. He was accused of receiving €75,000 from a company administrator to influence a business dispute. The court found no evidence supporting the charges of influence peddling, money laundering, and forgery, leading to his acquittal. Mihalache had been prosecuted by the DNA in May 2022 after being caught accepting the bribe.
