Un fenomen de amploare după revolta din 1987 de la Brașov. 215 brașoveni au încercat să fugă în Ungaria până la căderea regimului comunist, dar au fost prinși la graniță • Social Biz Brasov
Recent data from CNSAS reveals a significant increase in illegal border crossings from Romania to Hungary between 1987 and 1989, particularly after the 1987 Brașov workers' revolt. In 1987, 219 individuals crossed the border illegally, while 594 were caught. By 1988, 6,562 people chose not to return from trips to Hungary. From 1987 to August 1989, 215 Brașov residents attempted illegal crossings, with 166 succeeding. The situation worsened in 1989, with 5,406 caught in the first eight months alone. The majority of those attempting to leave were young men, particularly skilled workers. Notably, even members of the Communist Party chose to remain in Hungary, highlighting widespread dissatisfaction with the regime.
