Police in Botoșani conducted searches at the home of a man posing as a priest, suspected of fraud and practicing without authorization. The 38-year-old had set up a fake church in his parents' yard and was illegally officiating services, attracting followers through TikTok. He had previously been a monk but was expelled from the Orthodox Church in 2014 for misconduct. The man had created a space resembling a legitimate place of worship and used religious garments to mislead participants for financial gain. He was taken to the police station under a warrant.
