A former bailiff in Dâmbovița operated an illegal zoo with lions, tigers, and bears, charging visitors for entry. Authorities confiscated the animals due to lack of legal documentation and suspected illegal importation from Ukraine. The menagerie, which had been functioning for 15 years, was falsely registered as an animal rehabilitation foundation. The owner, Claudiu Duică, faces a fine and criminal charges for animal possession violations. The animals are being relocated to proper sanctuaries.
