A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Flores Island in Indonesia, resulting in at least 40 deaths and 50 injuries. About 2,000 people evacuated the Nagekeo region. A tsunami alert was initially issued but later lifted, although aftershocks continue. A second earthquake of 6.9 magnitude hit Sumatra shortly after.
