Un conservant alimentar, legat de creșterea sinuciderilor în rândul tinerilor. Cercetătorii trag un semnal de alarmă

A widely used food preservative is linked to an increase in suicide rates in the UK, particularly among young men. Researchers suggest the issue may be underestimated. An analysis of data from 2019 to 2024 indicates a need for public health measures to restrict access to this substance. The study found that 71% of cases involved younger generations, with men significantly outnumbering women. Blood tests revealed unusually high levels of nitrite and nitrate, suggesting intentional ingestion. Despite limitations in the study, the findings raise concerns about the rising number of cases among digitally literate youth, prompting calls for immediate action to limit access to sodium nitrite.
